Food
Eva's Roost and Tiny House of Paul both have a basic kitchen that includes: toaster oven, kettle, single induction element, french press for coffee, fridge and slow cooker. Guests are welcome to come up to the kitchen at the main house if they would like to use our oven or need more than one element for a meal(except during the pandemic). We currently have a young farmer living on our property, using organic practices, who sells seasonal produce, chocolate and herbal brews. You can see his weekly offerings at: www.stuartwayman.com as they are available or message him on Instagram @farmerstus. We own Cobden Village Shops in Cobden where you'll find fresh baked bread and other goodies, Equal Exchange coffee, chocolate, teas and nuts, local honey, preserves, & medicinal herbal blends. Shops include antique, vintage, repurposed, art, locally made products and more. Also, we order from an online fresh organic & certified naturally grown market each week. If you would like to place an order prior to your stay, the cutoff is Tuesday at 8pm and the orders are ready Thursdays at 3pm at a local farm. Go to www.leaffoodhub.com. There are many wonderful farms & farmers markets in the area.

Cobden has several very good places to eat including: Iron Whisk for breakfast or lunch Thurs-Sun, Downtown Abbey (hours/days to be announced), Taqueria Pequena for lunch/dinner.  The Mexican Grocery in Cobden has some food supplies, but the nearest grocery is in Anna at the Kroger. There are also local farmer's markets and a Neighborhood Coop in Carbondale. The Old Feedstore in Cobden hosts a Farmer's Market twice a month on Sundays(closed for winter) where you can also get a tasty lunch. Once a month there is a delicious Fish Fry Friday at the Catholic church in Cobden. Most of the wineries have some kind of food with some having full-service. Other restaurants/caterers, special dinners & music events with food are plentiful in the Southernmost Illinois area. A binder offers suggestions and directions. You can also go on Facebook and check out the Southern Illinois Eats page - almost 20,000 members on there and lots of good reviews and referrals for good food.
Note: there are some changes during Covid-19. Ask us.
